Our Mission

The Friends of the Peoria Public Library, a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization, inspires a passion for literacy and learning by supporting Peoria’s libraries through financial assistance, program activities and community outreach.

 

Who We Are

We are a group of dedicated volunteers who provide financial and other support to Peoria's two libraries, Main and Sunrise Mountain. The libraries received over $57,000 in direct funding for circulating materials, supplies and programming support for 2024. Over the past five years (2020-2024) the Friends have provided over $268,000 in total funding and an average of 4000 volunteer hours per year.

1. We encourage monetary donations and also conduct a variety of fundraising activities throughout the community.
2. We donate monthly to each library for children’s programming funding and summer reading efforts and for purchasing items and supplies not covered by the city budget.
3. We support book sale areas in both libraries year-round.
4. We assist library staff with author visits and other special events as requested.
5. We participate in community outreach events to promote our libraries.
6. We host and/or volunteer at children’s programs at both branches.

The Friends of the Peoria Public Library Donation Guidelines

Starting Friday, August 1, 2025, Sunrise Mountain Library (21109 N. 98th Ave., Peoria, AZ, 85382) will again accept book and item donations in preparation for the opening of The Cozy Corner Book Shop this Fall.

As before, tax-deductible donations are also accepted at the Peoria Main Library’s downtown location at 8463 W. Monroe Street, Peoria, AZ 85345.

Accepted Donations:

• Paperback and hardback books.
• DVDs and Blu-ray.
• Audiobooks (CD only).
• Jigsaw Puzzles.

Donations NOT Accepted:

• Damaged books (water damaged, moldy, soiled, etc.).
• VHS or cassette tapes.
• Magazines.
• Music CDs.
• Textbooks.
• Encyclopedias.
