'Unearth A Story' at the library as the 2026 Summer Reading Program is here! Starting June 1, people of all ages may participate by signing up and reading 20 minutes a day to earn incentives and prizes all summer long. Your local Peoria Public Library also offers several special summer events that can be enjoyed by the whole family! Those attending the events can even earn additional points! The program runs from June 1 through July 20, so be sure to sign up and 'Unearth A Story' at the library today!

Get creative at the Teen Tiny Art Studio! Hang out, paint tiny masterpieces, and add your art to our community Tiny Art Gallery. Each session features a fun optional theme for inspiration. No experience needed and all supplies are provided. Perfect for a chill summer afternoon at the library! No registration required.

Team up, dodge darts, and compete in exciting Nerf challenges after hours at the library. Bring your own Nerf blaster as a limited number will be available to borrow. For teens between the ages of 12 - 17.

Registration required. Permission slips may be picked up at the Front Desk or downloaded with the link provided below. Registration is completed by returning a signed parent/guardian permission slip to the Front Desk. Space is limited to 40 participants; the first 40 completed permission slips received will be registered.

Want to learn how to sew? Join us for a fun, hands-on sewing program just for teens! Participants will learn the basics of using a sewing machine while creating beginner-friendly projects and building new skills along the way. No experience needed and all materials are provided. Please note: A beginner session is required before attending the second, more advanced project session. Any previous beginner Teen Sew Session counts toward this requirement. Spots are limited, so sign up early!

Peoria Public Libraries in partnership with Driving-Tests.org, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, offers free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests to library patrons. The service includes free tests specifically based on the state’s DMV materials. It is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that let users hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask portions of the screen for greater visibility on the practice tests.
