2024 Winter Reading Program

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Date: Nov. 18 - Jan. 4

Join our Winter Reading Program this holiday season! Get a prize just for signing up, then read at least 20 minutes for 20 days, marking off each day on your reading log. Turn in the completed log to your local Peoria Public Library for a finisher prize. When completed, each participant will also get a register-to-win slip for a chance to win a great prize basket! Reading logs may be picked up at your local Peoria Public Library starting Nov. 18 and the completed logs are due back by Jan. 4. The program is open to all ages.

Book Buddies

Library: Peoria Main Library
Date: Spring session dates to be decided.

Does your child need help reading? Book Buddies is a program where we pair your child with a teen volunteer to help gain confidence while reading aloud. This program is suited for students in grades K-5.

  • 1st quarter sessions will be held on Wednesdays, Jan. 29 - Mar. 12, from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.

  • 2nd quarter sessions will be held on Wednesdays, Mar. 26 - May. 7, from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.

2024 Winter Lego Contest

Library: Peoria Main Library
Date: Dec. 2 - Jan. 4

Celebrate the magic of the season with a Lego building contest full of imagination! This season's theme is Winter Whimsy and possible creations can include, but are not limited to: a futuristic city, enchanted forests, or even mythical creatures. Build your design and bring it in for a chance to win a prize! For ages 6-17.

  • Forms will be avialable at the library starting Dec. 2.

WHAM Teen Art Night

Library: Peoria Main Library
Date: The 4th Wednesday of the month

Come visit us every month to learn and create many forms of art with WHAM (What's Happening Art Movement), thanks to Peoria’s Arts Grant Program! For ages 12 - 17. Space is limited and registration is required.

Teens and tweens, join us for a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournament! Prizes for 1st place will receive a Culvers Value Basket coupon, Enamel Pin, & a lanyard; 2nd place will receive Two In & Out Hamburger coupons, one LEGO Mystery Mini-figure & lanyard; 3rd place will receive 1 In & Out Hamburger coupon, Enamel Pin, and a Lanyard. Everyone who plays gets a free Uptown Jungle 1 hour of play and stickers! For kids 8 - 17.

Teens and adults, come enjoy a blend of fun and education with VR at your local library! Each month will present different activities and themes - all in the amazing world of VR. No registration required, for ages 13 and up.

Curious about K-Pop? Join our latest social club - Hello K-Pop WV - your west valley connection to hang out and K-Pop! Open to all ages, great for both newbies and K-Pop veterans.

Bring your trading binders, and projects to work on as we trade pcs, decorate toploaders, craft concert freebies and enjoy a playlist of the most current K-Pop releases.

Driving Tests and Materials

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries

Peoria Public Libraries in partnership with Driving-Tests.org, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, offers free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests to library patrons. The service includes free tests specifically based on the state’s DMV materials. It is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that let users hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask portions of the screen for greater visibility on the practice tests.
