Sunrise Mountain Library

Sunrise Mountain Library - Delayed Opening

Date: Apr. 6 - Apr. 9

Due to maintenance work being performed on the facility, Sunrise Mountain Library will open at 1 p.m. from Monday, April 6, through Thursday, April 9. The Library will resume its normal operating hours on Friday, Apr. 10.

The morning storytimes during the week of April 6 have been cancelled. They will resume their normal schedule on Monday, Apr. 13.

The Family Storytime scheduled on Tuesday, Apr. 7, at 6 p.m. will be available for its normal session.

Wanted: Summer Teen Volunteers

Looking to build skills and gain job experience this summer? Join the Teen Summer Volunteer Program at the Peoria Main Library, where teens work alongside staff, help with programs, and support library services. Open to ages 13–17 who can volunteer twice a week from June 1–July 31. Application deadline is April 30th.

City Nature Challenge (CNC)

Do you like observing nature?  Then make your observations count this weekend! Every year on the last weekend in April, the Greater Phoenix Area participates in the City Nature Challenge (CNC). The CNC is a family friendly worldwide competition among cities to see whose residents can spot and identify the most wildlife. Come to Peoria Main Library's Lobby on Friday afternoon for a training on how to download and use the free app iNaturalist. Then, take it outside to “BioBlitz” Peoria’s city hall campus and join in the CNC!

National Poetry Month Awards Ceremony

Book Buddies

Teens, looking for an opportunity to get volunteer hours? Become a Book Buddy and earn service hours for school, honor society, and youth organization requirements. As a bonus, they'll also develop important real-world skills like communication, patience, and leadership, which are great for their resume and college applications. Cozy Crafts

Library: Peoria Main Library
Date: Tuesdays
Time: 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Get creative and unwind at Cozy Crafts, a monthly crafting program focused on cozy, hands-on projects like crochet, knitting, and embroidery. Beginners are welcome, and all supplies are provided. Space is limited. Capacity is limited to 15 participants aged 13+. Registration is encouraged.

WHAM Teen Art Night

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries

Teens, join us at the library and get creative with WHAM (What’s Happening Art Movement)! Each session features hands-on projects using a variety of mediums like bead crafting, oil pastels, paper quilling, collages, and CD mosaics. Come to one class or attend them all! Thanks to a Peoria Arts & Cultural Commission grant, WHAM is offering a free monthly art class for up to 15 teens. Registration is required.

Teen Sew Sessions

Want to learn how to sew? Join us for a hands-on sewing project just for teens! You'll learn the basics of using a sewing machine while creating cool projects like a fabric wristlet at the first session (Apr. 15) , and a pop-open pouch at the second session (Apr. 29). No experience needed and all materials are provided. Spots are limited, so sign up early!

VR Experience

Teens and adults, come enjoy a blend of fun and education with virtual reality at your local library! Each month will present different activities and themes - all in the amazing world of VR!

This project is supported by the Arizona State Library, Archives & Public Records, a division of the Secretary of State, with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Miniature Painting Meetup

Dungeons & Dragons

Play Dungeons & Dragons at the Peoria Main Library the first Thursday of every month from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Pre-generated characters and dice are provided. For ages 13 and up. Registration is required.

Driving Tests and Materials

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries

Peoria Public Libraries in partnership with Driving-Tests.org, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, offers free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests to library patrons. The service includes free tests specifically based on the state’s DMV materials. It is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that let users hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask portions of the screen for greater visibility on the practice tests.
