In-N-Out Burger’s “Cover to Cover” Reading Program

Library: Peoria Main & Sunrise Mountain Libraries
Date: Saturday, Mar. 7 – Saturday, Apr. 18

This spring children ages 4 – 12 can participate in In-N-Out’s annual Cover to Cover Reading program! Children who read five books, or for 300 minutes, will earn an Achievement Award for 1 free hamburger or cheeseburger at In-N-Out Burger. Participants can can complete up to 3 reading logs, earning up to 3 free hamburger or cheeseburger coupons! Pick up your Cover to Cover reading logs at your local Peoria Public Library starting Saturday, Mar. 7. Completed logs must be turned in by Saturday, Apr. 18, to receive their coupons.

Storytime at StoryWalk®

The library is taking storytime outside! Join us at the ramada in Pioneer Community Park at 10:30 a.m., located between the dog park and the lake (on 81st Ave. just South of Olive Ave.). Meet up with Peoria Family Resource Center's "Park Pals" and enjoy a fun craft, singing songs, and reading 'Wiggle' at the StoryWalk® together.

STEAM Event – Emperor Penguin Pop Challenge

Book Buddies

Library: Peoria Main Library

Does your child need help reading? Book Buddies is a program where we pair your child with a teen volunteer to help gain confidence while reading aloud. This program is suited for students in grades K-5.

  • The Book Buddies registration has closed for the 3rd quarter sessions.
  • 4th quarter sessions will be held on Wednesdays, Apr. 8 - May 6, from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Drumming for Wellness

Join us for Drumming for Wellness, a free 12-week community drumming series hosted by Drums Are Life LLC! The program will be led by Folade, a Remo Drums Trained HealthRHYTHMS® Facilitator. This uplifting, multigenerational program uses rhythm to support emotional well-being, physical health, creativity, and community connection. Open to participants of all ages and abilities—including older adults, youth, and neurodivergent individuals—each 60-minute session blends rhythmic instruction, group drumming, mindful movement, and reflection in a supportive, inclusive environment. Registration is required.

Pip's 1,000 Book Challenge

Pip's 1,000 book challenge is a fun, independent, and self-paced reading initiative designed to promote a strong literacy foundation in children ages 0-5. Start reading now and read 1,000 books by the time they are school ready and entering kindergarten. Track your progress on our reading logs and earn prizes after 100, 300, 600, and 1,000 books!

Sensory Adventures

Library: Peoria Main Library

Parents/guardians, looking for something for the kids to do after school in a nonjudgmental space? Families are invited to join us for various fun and interactive activities every Monday and Thursday starting at 3:30 p.m. All kinds of crafts, STEAM challenges, games, and activities will foster these students' creativity, exploration, and team working skills. All are welcome to these programs, including families with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other sensory needs. Activities will vary from session to session. Please call the library at (623) 773-7578 to find out which activity we will be doing that day.
The Peoria Public Libraries are IBCCES Certified Autism Centers.

Since not everyone thrives in loud, high-energy environments, an adapted room will be available in tandem to provide an inviting space for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other sensory needs.

PAWS 2 Read @ Your Peoria Libraries

PAWS 2 Read is an on-going program which allows children to read aloud to therapy dogs in order to improve reading skills. When children practice reading individually to trained therapy dogs (and their handlers) they become more confident readers, while having fun! After all, a dog will not correct them or make them feel awkward if they stumble.
